Kaskade and Felix Cartal have joined creative forces to create a low-key summer jam that’ll keep you bumping through the increasingly long days. Soft vocals from Ofelia K perfectly set the mood for a pleasant little guitar riff that gives the song the perfect feel for cruising down a quiet road with the windows open. Reminds me of RAC’s remix of “Classic” by The Knocks. Enjoy below.
Ofelia K is riding hot off the release of her fantastic 2015 EP Plastic Flowers, of which each individual track made the HypeM top five. She’s decidedly let loose in this one, with driving chords that create both the percussion and melody of this energetic track. Enjoy below and keep your eye out for more.
I kind of feel like I’ve gotten into a rhythm here in D.C. I know the city, know my friends, and am pretty content with what has been an awesome summer so far. This playlist is another “general” playlist, but has a kind of stability to it. I tried to not branch out into crazy genres that I question if I even like myself, keeping it close to a core sound that I know I enjoy. The playlist starts out with a lot of indie-pop, demonstrating that you don’t have to have a staff of writers to create a catchy pop anthem. Then we move into the world of “future-pop,” with glitchy vocals and rolling snares. This is my “home” with modern music. Anyone who follows this blog knows its my favorite genre right now. We briefly dip into some alternative rock before popping the tempo back up with some more trap and hip-hop influenced electronica to fill the second half of the setlist. As always, I’ve included a few acoustic songs to close the set and clear your head. Favorite artists on this list include: The Chainsmokers, RATATAT, Hudson Mohawke, and Snøwmass. If you only listen to one song on this playlist, let it be “Roses.” Over and over and over. Enjoy below.
