Welcome to this week’s edition of the Sunday 5elect, where Economix readers get insight into the top five tracks dominating my headphones right now.
1. SNBRN & Coyote Kisses – Show Me
“Show Me” is a perfect blend of the divergent styles championed by SNBRN and Coyote Kisses. You can hear the hard hitting 4/4 bass typical of SNBRN as well as the rapid oscillations and pseudo-vocal synths that Coyote Kisses love to use. The second drop is an unreal example of how a nice sub bass can make you feel.
2. JACKAL – Feel It (feat. Anfa Rose)
An intense, emotional future bass track from JACKAL. The way that the fills on the drop rapidly pan from ear to ear to ear is unreal, the vocals are pretty tight, and the energy never lets up.
3. Frank Ocean – Biking
I’m really enjoying this recent flurry of activity from Frank Ocean. Biking is a pretty chill, featuring Jay Z & Tyler, The Creator that starts of with some filtered vocals but then opens up with a verse from Frank and one from Tyler. Smooth always seems to be the go-to word when describing Frank’s tracks, so I’ll use it again here: it’s smooth af.
4. D.R.A.M. – Broccoli (feat. Lil Yachty) [Chet Porter Remix]
Chet Porter infuses an irresistibly happy and energetic vibe into any track he touches. Broccoli is one of the most overplayed songs of this past year, but Chet waited for the hype to die out before releasing this pretty fresh take on the song. I like that there’s not really a huge “drop” and the focus is on the addicting vocals and bouncy production.
5. chris skorr – spring vibes
This is the first mix I’ve heard from chris skorr but I really like the vibe. It’s upbeat, happy, and has a lot of great future bass. Looking forward to exploring his summer vibes in a couple of months.
